Monty Karmakharm
PROGRAM coordinator
Monty Karmakharm brings over a decade of experience in the nonprofit sector, economics, and development studies.
Monty has worked with a variety of NGOs across the education, public health, and digital transformation sectors, gaining what he describes as invaluable experiences.
Before joining Open Lunar, he worked for the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change, supporting their Power Africa and Digital Transformation programs. Additionally, he served as a trustee for a grant-giving charity established in honor of Alec Dickson, founder of the International Citizen Service, and currently serves as Chair of Governors at a primary school in Yorkshire.
His fascination with space began in childhood, inspired by books about explorers and astronauts. While he dreamed of working in space, Monty never imagined it would become a reality, making him feel especially fortunate to be part of Open Lunar.
What he loves most about working with Open Lunar is the people and ideas he engages with every day. He describes the team as tackling some of the most complex problems with a radical, innovative approach to developing ideas, something unique to the organization.
When he’s not working, Monty can be found surfing at the beach or exploring the outdoors with his dog.
